Fables of Delineation with The Pinay Bombshell
This is the blog of Davorah Stetson... I am a multi-faceted woman with the willpower of a magnetized bullet train. I dont always discuss girly things like fashion and styling... sometimes I refer to subjects in a girly manner.. =P I will almost always mention food... sometimes more decadent than healthy, but hey... if I can't eat it, I can at least post pictures... And if I get mad at my tech, politicians, or anything else, you bet your boots I will mention it here!

Would you mind telling me you're taking a photo... of me? KthxBye
"Is it all right if I post your photo on my Facebook page?" This is a question that is sometimes asked of the photographed person... I find it interesting that people would take a photo of a person or people without first talking to them about it. Yes, practice makes perfect, but when someone is objectifying your person and wanting to share it (especially over the internet), they should have permission prior to clicking the shutter.

Some people may not want their likeness available on the internet for all to see. For whatever reason, photographers, and general people with cameras, need to be conscious and sensitive to this sort of situation.
Now, there will always be at least one person being a ham for the camera... (thats usually me... and I shouldn't be talking about ham... I want some ham... lol) but not everyone can be so comfortable in front of the lens.
I used to be very camera shy! I would hide my face whenever someone whipped out a kodak... But I came to find that the images of myself weren't so bad and it helped me jump a very big hurdle of self consciousness. I became a model over six years ago to break myself of that unsightly habit of low self-esteem and negative body image.
Even though I am usually a good sport, I wonder if others feel photo snapping is a breach of etiquette and possibly security.
"To capture a sense of life in a new destination, many travelers have used zoom lenses and hidden-camera tricks to surreptitiously snap photos of locals without their permission -- and likely -- without their knowledge. But approaching photography like a covert operation is not the most ethical way to get a great shot." - http://tinyurl.com/BBC-Photo-Snaps

Simply making eye contact with the subject and showing your camera to signify what your intention is makes for very felicitous behavior. The possible subject will let you know if they are interested in your taking their photo.
It is best to remain conscious of overly sensitive scenery. One example of this is a tourist wanting to take photos of a cemetery and a grieving person at a head stone. It is acceptable etiquette to photograph the cemetery or other emotionally stirring settings, but not the person in the emotional state.
Sometimes photographers forget basic etiquette when traveling to countries of different cultural beliefs. The natives of more poverty stricken areas may not appreciate feeling like they are on display for others to gawk at let alone be captured via film. Some religious customs have people not very appreciative of the idea of their photo being taken.
The person with the camera should treat every subject with respect and care. If a rapport is established and if it is a collaboration between the photographer and the subject, the portrait and the experience of taking it are far more indicative and memorable!

Its been a while.... o.O
Soooo...
This time its been over a year since my last post... good times... lol! Well, with the sporatic quantity and quality of content that I didnt have the time to search for, it makes a bit of sense.
Now, however, I have lots of content and photos, of excellent quality and quantity to add richness to your regular readings!
To celebrate my recently available ability to augment my finger nails, (I dont work in food service anymore) Here are some images of pretty nail designs that inspire me!
I love the steely teal tips and glittery embellishments on this one!

I really enjoy this step by step instruction on how to create this floral inspired filigree design. Im not too big of a fan of the red color, but Im able to imagine it as another color. :)

Its been a while... =P
I haven't written any blogs in almost a year. I am in the process of re-focusing myself and my goals and one of the goals I've been slacking on is the writing of more blogs and email letters, as well as real "snail-mail" letters. Well, writing all together really...
So, this is my next attempt at keeping up with my writing practice. I am going to be more consistent with it this time.
Just in time for the holidays, creating face masks (the ones that don't need preservatives, of course) and putting them in decorated jars is an awesome idea for a holiday gift!
I love making my own face care products! It's so easy to do too! I recently found this great website called wittyliving.com that has awesome recipes for face masks for any skin type! I have a whole bookmark folder dedicated to more websites like this. If you are interested in finding out where more of my homemade beauty product recipes come from, feel free to ask!
www.wittyliving.com - Homemade Face Mask Recipes
My favorites on the wittyliving.com website are
The Carrot and Honey Face Mask (I add a little bit of lemon juice to this recipe as well) This one is good for oily skin. {If you have extra product after applying a layer to your face, you can store it in a container with a tight lid in the fridge for about 5-7 days. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BAKING SODA CONTAINER IN YOUR FRIDGE OR YOUR PRODUCT IS GONNA HAVE A FUNNY SMELL!!! Even with the tight lid... O.o Ain't Chemistry Crazy?! :D}
Face masks made with carrots can aid in nourishing the skin in a natural way since carrots contain important nutrients like glucose, iron, copper, Vitamins C, D, E, K and most importantly carotene. Carrots are RICH in antioxidants. They have antiseptic qualities that makes it good for blemished skin. When carrots are mixed with oil, they can be used on dry skin. You can use them pureed or juiced.
Another kitchen item that provides that which is soothing and nourishing for the skin is honey. Honey is made of ingredients like glucose, fructose, water, enzymes, vitamins, minerals and amino acid. All of those ingredients are beneficial to the skin! Honey provides moisturizing and anti bacterial benefits.
Lemon is a natural astringent that helps in cleaning the greasy skin. It provides vitamin C and the fruit acids help to exfoliate the skin.
The Autumn Apple Facial Mask This one is good for combination skin. I don't recommend you save any of the extra on this. Make just enough for a single usage. The enzymes in the apples will sour the half and half, which I have read is good for the skin; Apparently Cleopatra would bathe in sour milk to keep her skin soft. But I personally have not tried that... o.O Something about that smell just makes me wanna yak... LOL!
The oatmeal in this recipe is great for gently exfoliating, soothing, and moisturizing the face. You can either grind it up or use it whole.
The apple provides vitamin A and C. Fruit acids help with exfoliation. You can use it pureed or grated.
The half and half's enzymes penetrate the pores and dissolve any sebum and other nasty stuff.
Because of the lactic acid in it, milk's a super-gentle exfoliant, revealing younger-looking and fresher skin without leaving any irritation, flakes, or redness behind.
I definitely recommend this website if you like to create your own face mask products! :D
(On a side note: If you want a holiday card from me this year, I need you to email me with your mailing address. I can't afford any presents this year so I will do the next best thing by creating my own handmade cards for the holidays. Your personality {as I know you}, will determine the kind of card I make for you.) =^.^=

For Oily skin, use 2% or nonfat milk.
For Normal skin, use whole milk.
